The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, honours residential school Survivors and recognizes the lasting impacts on Indigenous Peoples, families, and communities. In this two-hour introductory workshop, Dr. Peter Menzies will explore key issues facing Indigenous Peoples in Canada, including colonialism, self-determination, public policy, residential schools, child welfare, intergenerational trauma, healing, and partnership-building. With more than 25 years of experience working with First Nation communities, Dr. Menzies will create a respectful, interactive space for participants to ask questions, share perspectives, and deepen their understanding.
