This is a welcoming, inclusive art program for all ages. Participants and families can explore three hands-on art stations at their own pace in a relaxed, accessible environment designed to support different ages, abilities, and sensory preferences. The program will be lead by Expressive Art Therapist Youki Kato.
At The Collective Mural, participants will help create a large shared artwork that grows throughout the session. Using paint, collage materials, markers, stamps, and pieces created at other stations, each person can add their own contribution to a collaborative “shared world.” This station is all about community connection, creativity, and seeing how individual ideas come together to form one vibrant collective piece.
At Color Magic, participants will experiment with art techniques that highlight colour, texture, and transformation. Activities may include bleeding markers on coffee filters to create soft blending effects, bubble art for playful layered patterns, and salt-and-glue techniques that produce raised textures and surprising visual results. This station encourages curiosity, sensory exploration, and the joy of discovering how simple materials can create striking artistic effects.
At Nature & Stone Art, participants will engage with calming, tactile materials inspired by West Vancouver’s natural environment. They can paint smooth river rocks, create temporary designs using leaves, twigs, and other natural elements, and explore arranging textures, shapes, and colours in a mindful and grounding way. This station offers a peaceful creative experience that connects artmaking with nature, sensory awareness, and local place. Together, these stations offer a balance of collaborative, expressive, and sensory-rich art experiences that encourage families to create and explore.
