This introduction is designed for those with little or no Pilates experience, but an unsupported level of mobility and fitness.

Pilates uses a structured system of body-weight exercises performed on a mat, focusing on core strength and body awareness. Leg circles and "roll-ups" are examples you may know. Over time, Pilates helps improve posture, breathing, overall strength, and mobility. Because the movements rely on your own body weight for resistance, Pilates is accessible to all ages and fitness levels, with modifications available to suit individual abilities.

In this class, participants should be able to move comfortably up and down from the mat and bear weight on their hands when required. See our 55+ class offerings for more options.
