Intro to SUP - Open to Adults, 16+

Curious about gliding across the water?
This summer is your chance to discover the fun of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) at beautiful Ambleside Beach Park! Join our welcoming intro sessions led by a certified SUP coach and take the first step on your paddling adventure.

Choose your summer SUP class:
• Tuesday, July 7, 5:30-7:30pm
• Tuesday, July 21, 5:30-7:30pm
• Tuesday, August 4, 5:30-7:30pm
• Tuesday, August 18, 5:30-7:30pm

Ever wondered what it's like to walk on water? Our intro workshop will get you started! We'll cover the basics of stand-up paddleboarding and all the essential safety gear you need to know.

What you'll learn: On land, we'll get comfortable with the board, learning safe ways to get on and off, plus the fundamental forward paddle and turning techniques. We'll also chat about understanding the weather forecast to ensure a safe and enjoyable time on the water.

Then it's time to get on the water! On the water, you'll learn to paddle on your knees, practice those turns, and when you're ready, experience the feeling of standing up. To top it off, we'll take a short paddle tour to put your new skills into action.

Waiver required for participation - sent upon registration and available at the start of class.

Location: Ambleside Park, West Vancouver. Meet your instructor on the grass in front of the main beach, to the east of the Hollyburn Sailing Club.

Is this for you? Absolutely, if you're intrigued by stand-up paddleboarding and want to give it a go! No swimming skills required, just a comfort level with being in the water (you'll be floating with a provided life jacket).

What to wear: Think comfy, synthetic fabrics that dry quickly – your favorite fitness wear is ideal. Please leave the cotton at home. We'll provide adult life jackets, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.

What to bring: All SUP gear is included but you need to be prepared for the day's weather – a sweater or sun hat, sunscreen, and definitely water to stay hydrated. Water shoes are recommended if you own a pair.
