Description
Summertime sunshine and cool blue pool waters. What can possibly go wrong? A backyard pool can be an entertaining addition to a household, but it comes with risk and responsibility. Residential swimming pools are the most common location of drownings among children under five. Whether you are a pool owner, pool guest or a concerned guardian — it’s important to understand the hazards of backyard pools to avoid danger.
This clinic provides training on water safety awareness, accident prevention, vigilance, and safety supervision. Learn how to identify hazards and at-risk behaviours, how to recognize victims in distress and drowning swimmers, and rescue response. Candidates will be recognized with an ‘Ontario Lifesaving Society Safeguard Program’ certification. Note: An extra set of clothing (t-shirt and shorts) to use during in-water rescue drills is required.
