Description

Children will learn how to prepare and cook healthy Ethiopian-inspired meals while developing practical kitchen skills and learning about nutrition. Throughout the program, participants will make a variety of recipes, including healthy snacks, salads, and traditional main dishes. At the end of each class, children and their families will come together to enjoy the meal they have prepared. Each child will help serve the food and share the story behind the dish, explaining its cultural significance, how it is made, and the ingredients used, including where those ingredients can be found locally. Families will also receive the recipe to recreate the meal at home. This program encourages confidence, teamwork, cultural appreciation, and family engagement. It reflects the meaning of our school's name, Hibret, which means "unity." By bringing together children of different ages and their families, the program creates meaningful connections while celebrating Ethiopian culture through food.
