Join us this summer for an action-packed week of indoor and outdoor activities including group games, arts and crafts, sports, and out-trips. This is a leadership themed day camp with weekly activities focused on developing various skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, communication, volunteerism, money skills, goal-setting, and much more! Each day will be filled with exciting activities to keep youth engaged throughout the summer. We will also go on out-trips travelling by public transit and charter bus to explore the city and the great outdoors. Parents/Guardians will receive an email with the Parent Communication/Policy manual and forms before camp, detailing camp expectations and guidelines. Refunds eligible until noon (12pm) the week prior to the camp start date.
This youth leadership camp will meet in the Games Room within the community centre. The weekly schedule also includes going to the spray park/pool/ice rink and more. The sensory environment may include loud noises, bright lights, or crowded spaces. Staff prepare a daily visual schedule to help campers know what to expect for the day. Sensory resource kits may be available, including noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and visual aids.
Program staff are typically students with diverse interests and levels of experience. This program has a staff-to-participant ratio of 1:10.
IMPORTANT
Our Day Camp staff strive their best to support teens with different needs. The Dunbar Community Centre Association strongly encourage campers to bring their own support worker or behavioural interventionist to help them have fun with their peers. We do not provide one to one support or personal care. Please reach out to us at the time of registration if your child needs more leader attention and support to participate in camp.
