In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Carly Hilbert, create comforting, ready-to-eat meals with our DIY soup-in-a-jar workshop. Learn how to prepare, package, and can homemade soups for convenient meals throughout the year. Topics include: - Selecting appropriate soup recipes for canning - Proper canning techniques for soups - Understanding acidity requirements for safe canning - Labeling and storing canned soups - Meal planning strategies using canned soups Practice canning your own soup jars and leave with a collection of homemade, shelf-stable soups to enjoy for months to come. We'll have a community seed library present - pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds. Part of our 10th Annual Westside Food Festival (May 19-July 11). Fee includes cost of all materials. Reduced fee for seniors (50 and over; $10 materials fee only).
