Description

Get ready for a summer of fun and adventure! Activities will indoor and outdoor sports, cooperative games, arts & crafts, theatre, dance parties, entertainers, and special guests. We will also go on out-trips travelling by public transit and charter bus to explore the city and the great outdoors. Parents/Guardians will receive an email with the Parent Communication/Policy manual and forms before camp, detailing camp expectations and guidelines. Children must have completed kindergarten and be eligible for grade 1 to register for camp. Refunds eligible until noon (12pm) the week prior to the camp start date.

This day camp is held in room 208 within the community centre. The weekly schedule also includes going to the spray park/pool/ice rink and more. The sensory environment may include loud noises, bright lights, or crowded spaces. Staff prepare a daily visual schedule to help campers know what to expect for the day. Sensory resource kits may be available, including noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and visual aids. The day camp space includes a chill-out zone and a low-sensory area, with staff working to provide quiet breaks in low-stimulation zones.

Program staff are typically students with diverse interests and levels of experience. This program has a staff-to-participant ratio of 1:10, with additional support from youth volunteers.

IMPORTANT
Our Day Camp staff strive their best to support children with different needs. The Dunbar Community Centre Association strongly encourage campers to bring their own support worker or behavioural interventionist to help them have fun with their peers. We do not provide one to one support or personal care. Please reach out to us at the time of registration if your child needs more leader attention and support to participate in camp.
