Description

This course is offered in collaboration with the Lifesaving Society. The Bronze Cross certification begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. Candidates must be able to swim 400 metres in 11 minutes or less by the course exam date. The Standard First Aid (CPR C) certification provides comprehensive first-aid training, covering spinal injuries, heat/cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, medical emergencies, and the use of automated external defibrillators. You must bring the Canadian Lifesaving manual received in Bronze Medallion. This course is offered in an intensive weekend format.

Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR-B (current or expired) or Standard First Aid with CPR-C from an approved provider.

Equipment: Bring your copy of the Canadian Lifesaving manual received in Bronze Medallion.
