The Babysitting course prepares youth with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to care for themselves and for other children responsibly. Participants learn how to manage common challenges, provide age-appropriate care, and develop leadership and professional babysitting conduct.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to:
• Care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children
• Problem-solve, make safe decisions, and provide basic first aid
• Create a safe and positive environment and prevent injuries
• Plan age-appropriate games and activities
• Develop communication and basic business skills for babysitting
Please bring a nut-free lunch and snacks.
Note: The City of St. John’s cannot guarantee that youth who complete this course will be ready or responsible enough to care for other children without adult supervision.
