The Babysitting course prepares youth with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to care for themselves and for other children responsibly. Participants learn how to manage common challenges, provide age-appropriate care, and develop leadership and professional babysitting conduct.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to: Care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Problem-solve, make safe decisions, and provide basic first aid. Create a safe and positive environment and prevent injuries. Plan age-appropriate games and activities. Develop communication and basic business skills for babysitting
Please bring a nut-free lunch and snacks.
Note: The City of St. John’s cannot guarantee that youth who complete this course will be ready or responsible enough to care for other children without adult supervision.
Participants must have completed grade 5.
