Alberto Ubach, guitarist and composer, obtained his Guitar Performer Diploma from Mexico’s National Conservatory of Music. Among his teachers at the Conservatory were guitarist Guillermo Flores-Mendez and composer Guillermo Noriega. In 1982 he participated in the Superior Course of Music Interpretation with maestro Andrés Segovia, at the Conservatory of Music of Geneva, Switzerland. From 1987 to 1988, he studied Instrumental Conducting with Doctor Donald Barra, at San Diego State University (SDSU). In 2009 he was inducted into Tijuana’s Hall of Fame, and in 2011 he was adjudicator in composition of the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival. When asked what he likes most about teaching, Alberto says that it’s being able to share knowledge and information with his students that can make learning the guitar an easier and more enjoyable experience.
