Join us for the launch of Culture Days with an interactive and engaging evening with multi-instrumentalist Boris Sichon. Boris will introduce us to his incredible collection of instruments from around the world, teach us percussion rhythms, and lead us in a drum circle.

The Cultural Roundtable is a free event, open to everyone interested in arts, culture and heritage in Port Coquitlam. Light refreshments provided. Space is limited to 50 participants; please register in advance.

About the Artist

Boris Sichon was born and raised in the Ukraine, and studied percussion at the Academy of Music in St. Petersburg. Over his career, he has worked with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Jewish chamber musical theatre in Moscow, the Russian National Folkloric Band, the Footsbarn Travelling Theatre in France, the Habima National Theatre in Israel, and taught at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

Boris has performed in 25 different countries, on 5 different continents. He came to Canada in 2004, performing, leading workshops, and writing music for theatre.

During his extensive travels, Boris has collected traditional local instruments and learned to play from well-known native musicians. His unique collection of ethnic musical instruments now comprises over 200 rare and unique musical instruments.
