Description

A wonderful opportunity for students aged 6 years and older to explore the joy of music in a relaxed, supportive, and welcoming environment. Beginners through advanced learners are welcome, including students of all musical backgrounds and learning abilities. Lessons focus on developing practical piano skills, music reading, piano technique, musical expression, creativity, and appreciation for music. Students will learn both the musical alphabet (A–G) and solfège (Do–Re–Mi), building foundation for reading music, understanding pitch relationships, and playing with confidence. Through engaging activities and repertoire, students will be encouraged to develop their own musical style, expression, and enjoyment of music. Access to a keyboard or piano is strongly recommended for practice between lessons. Beginner students will require a piano method book starting from the second lesson (approximately $10–$15 CAD). The instructor will recommend suitable book titles, which can be purchased through local music stores or online retailers. Families are welcome to purchase the books on their own or contact the programmer (michael.jensen@nvrc.ca) if they would like assistance finding recommended materials. Returning and experienced students are welcome to bring their own music books and learning materials. Due to high demand, only one registered lesson time per week is permitted. There are no make-up classes available and no refunds after the first class.
