Description
When potters create complex forms or tall vases, they often combine two or more wheel-thrown pieces into a single form. This process requires several skills, including throwing bottomless forms, carefully turning vessels upside down, and continuing to shape the piece after joining the sections.
In week one, you’ll learn how to combine forms and create your own piece. Week two will focus on trimming and decorating, and in week three, you’ll glaze your work. Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup two weeks after glazing.
To get the most out of this workshop, you should be comfortable centering 3–4 lbs of clay and throwing forms that are 5–6 inches tall. If you have bats, please bring them, as they will make the process easier.
