Small Wooden Box Workshop

Dates/Times: November 3 & 10, 6:30-9pm

Cost: $70 Members | $75 Non-Members

Location: Woodshop located in the Exchange (5943 Sylvia Place, NF)

Elevate your woodworking skills in this focused, hands-on d and a half workshop where you’ll craft a finely made wooden box from start to finish. Held Friday evening and Saturday morning, this class is designed for woodworkers with some prior experience who are ready to refine their techniques and work with greater precision.

With only 4 participants, this small-group setting offers a highly personalized learning experience, allowing for individual guidance and attention throughout the build.

During the workshop, you will:

Use a table saw sled for accurate, repeatable cuts

Set up and cut clean, precise dados

Create tight-fitting miter joints using the router table

Resaw lumber on the bandsaw

Plane thin stock on a thickness planer

Assemble components into a refined, well-crafted box

Build and fit a lid with precision

Finish your box with a hand-rubbed oil finish

This is not a beginner class. Participants should be comfortable with basic woodworking tools and shop safety. Box will be constructed with White Oak and Walnut. Rubio Monocoat, a premium hard wax finish, will be used to finish the box.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a completed wooden box and a deeper understanding of the techniques that define high-quality woodworking.
