Prerequisites:
- 15 Years of age or older.
- Intermediate First Aid (CPR-C & AED) formerly Standard First Aid CPR-C
Materials: Canadian Lifesaving Manual, and ALERT: Lifeguarding in Action Manual. Materials are available for purchase at a community centre. Whistle to be obtained by candidate.
Earn all the awards you need to be a certified lifeguard in one course. This course includes Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and National Lifeguard.
Exam dates and times to be confirmed by pool. 100 per cent participation strongly recommended. Included in the course fee you will receive the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Workbooks.
Course Length: 63 hrs.
Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.
To support one's identity, the identification must:
- Be valid (current)
- Include your name and date of birth
- Be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority, or equivalent
Acceptable forms of ID can include:
- Driver's license
- Health Card
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Permanent Resident (PR) Card
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Ontario Photo Card
Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
