Prerequisites: none
Materials: Canadian First Aid Manual is required and can be purchased at a community centre.
Basic First Aid (CPR-C & AED), formerly Emergency First Aid, provides awareness, knowledge, and skills to respond to common first aid emergencies. The course includes scene and primary assessment, CPR-C, AED use, breathing emergencies, circulatory emergencies and the treatment of wounds.
Course Length: 8 hrs.
Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.
To support one's identity, the identification must:
- Be valid (current)
- Include your name and date of birth
- Be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority, or equivalent
Acceptable forms of ID can include:
- Driver's license
- Health Card
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Permanent Resident (PR) Card
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Ontario Photo Card
Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
