Description

Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion, Emergency First Aid & CPR B
Materials: Canadian Lifesaving Manual and First Aid Manual. Materials are available for purchase at a community centre. Whistle to be obtained by candidate.
The Bronze Cross course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 400m swim. Standard First Aid / CPR C certifications are recognized by WSIB. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service Award and Instructors Course. Exam date to be confirmed at the pool. Course Length: 33hrs. Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools.

Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.

To support one's identity, the identification must:

  • Be valid (current)
  • Include your name and date of birth
  • Be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority, or equivalent

Acceptable forms of ID can include:

  • Driver's license
  • Health Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Permanent Resident (PR) Card
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Certificate of Indian Status
  • Ontario Photo Card

Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
