Description
Prerequisite: 13 years of age by the end of the course OR hold Bronze Star award.
Materials: Canadian Lifesaving Manual and First Aid Manual. Materials are available for purchase at a community centre.
Candidate will learn rescue techniques, resuscitation and the history of the Lifesaving Society. The Emergency First Aid/CPR B provides technical knowledge and practical experience in rescue breathing, CPR and emergency care. Exam will be held on the last scheduled class. Course Length: 23 hrs. Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools.
Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.
To support one's identity, the identification must:
- Be valid (current)
- Include your name and date of birth
- Be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority, or equivalent
Acceptable forms of ID can include:
- Driver's license
- Health Card
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Permanent Resident (PR) Card
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Ontario Photo Card
Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
