Description
Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 400m swim. Standard First Aid / CPR C certifications are recognized by WSIB. Prerequisites: Emergency First Aid/CPR B and Bronze Medallion. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service Award and Instructors Course. Required materials are available for purchase at a community centre (Canadian Lifesaving Manual, Canadian First Aid Manual). Exam date to be confirmed at the pool.
Course Length: 33hrs.
Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools.
NEW - Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.
Acceptable forms of ID. Candidates must present valid and current government-issued photo identification that includes their name and date of birth. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Driver’s license,
- Passport, health card (with photo),
- Permanent resident card,
- Citizenship card,
- Certificate of Indian Status, or
- Ontario Photo Card.
Note: If a candidate cannot provide one of these, they may instead present a birth certificate or health card (even without a photo), along with a
completed attestation from someone 18 or older—such as a parent or guardian with their acceptable form of ID. (Listed above)
Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
