Description

This program is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: primary assessment, CPR/choking for adults and children, use of an AED unit and what to do for external bleeding, heart attack, and stroke. Mandatory manual (Canadian First Aid Manual) is required and can be purchased at a community centre. Course Length : 8 hrs.

Proof of Identity: Lifesaving Society requires all candidates taking this course—whether for the first time or as a recertification—to verify their identity on the first day.

To support one's identity, the identification must:

  • Be valid (current)
  • Include your name and date of birth
  • Be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority, or equivalent

Acceptable forms of ID can include:

  • Driver's license
  • Health Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Permanent Resident (PR) Card
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Certificate of Indian Status
  • Ontario Photo Card

Please remember to bring proof of your prerequisite certifications and valid photo identification on the first day of the course. Unfortunately, without these documents, you won’t be able to continue in the course.
