Description
The Leader in Training - Express Camp is designed to be a crash course for those who are interested in becoming future camp counsellors and program instructors. In this camp, participants will be trained and certified in the Principles of Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE) and Standard First Aid with CPR C (certifications are a requirement of employment for camps and programs). This course will include 1 week of instructional learning and a 40 hour/ 1 week of placement in one of the City of Markham's camps where participants will gain the hands-on experience needed to lead a program or camp. Participants will be ready to apply for a camp counsellor or program instructor position at the end of this course. 100% participation is required. Participants must be 15 years old to participate in this camp and 16 years old (15 years for assistants) to be eligible to apply for an entry level part-time position. Students may be eligible to receive their Community Service Hours, however check with your schools guidance office to confirm.
