Description
Instruction is provided in power development, power strides, starting, stopping, lateral mobility and power drills. Skills taught in this program include balance, agility and coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to increase your skating skills. A CSA- approved hockey helmet is MANDATORY for this program. This is not a Learn to Skate class. Participants must be able to skate unassisted and have a desire to improve their speed and skating skills.
Please note: This is not a LEARN TO SKATE class. Participants must be able to do crossovers and backwards skating. If you are new to the City's power skating programs, please be aware that there is a skill assessment done at the start of the first class to ensure participants' skating proficiency is where it needs to be in order to participate; if they are unable to perform the skills during the assessment the participant will be withdrawn from the program to ensure safety for all on the ice. We encourage you to register for a Learn to Skate program as well if you are unsure if they will be able to pass the assessment to ensure you child gets to be on the ice this Spring!
