Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite for advanced training in the Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. Due to the intensity of this course 100% attendance is recommended.

Intermediate First Aid: This course covers First Aid skills including recognizing, treating and preventing airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies. Musculoskeletal, soft tissue and head and spine injuries, heat cold emergencies, poisons and other medical conditions such as diabetic, burns, bleeding and seizures. This award includes Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training.

The Canadian Lifesaving Manual and the Canadian First Aid Manual are the required references for this course. If you do not already possess these resources please add them to this transaction. All manuals will be handed out on the first day of the course.
