Pre-requisites: Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid.

The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite for advanced training in the Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. Due to the intensity of this course 100% attendance is recommended.

Standard First Aid with CPR-C: This course covers First Aid skills including recognizing, treating and preventing airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies. Musculoskeletal, soft tissue and head and spine injuries, heat cold emergencies, poisons and other medical conditions such as diabetic, burns, bleeding and seizures. This award includes Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training.

The Canadian Lifesaving Manual is the required reference for this course. Please bring your copy if you have one, if not add the manual to this transaction. The workbook is included in the cost of the course. The manual (if purchased) and the workbook will be handed out on the first day of the course.
