The Kenora Junior Green Thumb Club is a new hands-on gardening program designed for young nature enthusiasts who love to create, explore, and grow. Through fun and interactive projects, participants will learn basic gardening skills, plant care, and the importance of nurturing living things while developing creativity, responsibility, and a deeper connection to nature.
Our kickoff activity, Grass Animals, invites children to create their own living plant pet using soil, grass seed, and craft materials. As the grass grows, participants can water, care for, trim, and style their creation just like a real haircut, making this a fun introduction to gardening and plant care.
This is the first event in the Green Thumb Club, with additional gardening-themed activities planned in the future, including creative garden projects and hands-on opportunities to learn about plants and the natural world.
