Description
Swim Lesson Dates: July 13, July 14, July 15, July 16, July 17
NO SWIMMING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Swimming 101 follows the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive model. It teaches the essential skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. The program focuses on basic survival skills rather than full swimming instruction. With many children not enrolled in traditional swim lessons and most drownings occurring close to safety, the Swim to Survive model helps ensure every child gains the fundamental skills necessary to prevent drowning.
The standard includes three core abilities: rolling into deep water, treading water for one minute, and swimming 50 metres.
For children 5-8 years. If the participant is out of the age range online, please email beaches@halifax.ca to see if accommodation is possible.
Please be aware that swim lessons may be delayed, relocated, or cancelled with minimal notice due to water quality testing or inclement weather. To ensure you receive timely updates, please verify that the contact information on the registrant's account is accurate and up to date.
