Description

Join Isabella Corbet, proud Tsawwassen First Nation Member, for this talk sharing the early stages of her Master’s thesis at the University of British Columbia, which explores how knowledge of the Salish Sea and Fraser River has been passed down across generations in her family and within Tsawwassen First Nation. The research focuses on how these water-based teachings, especially through lived experience like fishing, shapes governance, responsibility, and identity in the Nation. By bringing together family stories, oral histories, and existing research, Corbet aims to show how water is not just a place, but a teacher that continues to guide who we are and how we relate to each other and our territories.
