Description

Character Creation and Playmaking is a creative class where students learn how to build bold, believable characters and transform them into a fully realized performance. Students begin with guided exercises that explore physicality, voice, point of view, and emotional grounding. The goal is to create characters that feel organic, specific, and alive. Once the characters are established, the class shifts into collaborative playmaking. Students work together to develop an immersive performance that weaves all of their characters into a shared world. Through improvisation, writing sessions, and group discussion, the class shapes a story that highlights each character’s perspective while building a cohesive ensemble piece. Students learn how to stay present, respond in real time, and bring their creations to life in a playful, welcoming environment. By the end of the course, participants leave with original characters, a collaboratively written script, and the confidence to create immersive work that feels grounded, imaginative, and uniquely their own. Refund Policy: A prorated refund is available for any withdrawals prior to the start of the 3rd class. Once the 3rd class starts, no refund will be provided.
