Description
The National Lifeguard Pool certification is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards. The National Lifeguard course emphasizes the lifeguarding skills, principles and practices, and the decision-making processes which will assist the lifeguard to provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments.
Prerequisites: Bronze Cross (need not be current) and Standard First Aid w/ CPR-C/AED (need not be current)
*Standard First Aid certification must be from one of the following agencies
-Red Cross
-Lifesaving Society
-Heart and Stroke Foundation
-St. John's Ambulance
-Canadian Ski Patrol
**Full attendance is strongly recommended. Any absence is approved at the instructor’s discretion
This program is delivered in partnership with the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon. As an affiliate, the City of Coquitlam offers programs and awards in accordance with the Lifesaving Society’s standards and policies. Candidate information, including name, date of birth, contact details, and course results, will be shared with the Lifesaving Society for certification and award processing in accordance with the Lifesaving Society’s Privacy Policy and applicable legislation.
