Description

For P.A. Day and Summer Camps, please register for the specific Inclusion Support program!

At the Municipality of Clarington, we're committed to making recreation programs safe, welcoming, and accessible. Our Inclusion Staff are here to support participants who may benefit from extra assistance to enjoy a successful experience in our programs.

Inclusion Staff can:
  • Adapt program activities and instructions
  • Help redirect participants to ensure safety
  • Offer sensory and emotional breaks as needed
  • In programs longer than 3 hours, inclusion staff can also provide support with personal care and activities of daily living.

Our staff receive training in program adaptations, behaviour management, and emotional regulation strategies. Please note that they are typically students and do not offer the same level of support as educational assistants or behaviour therapists.

To access inclusion support, you must add the participant to the waitlist for the appropriate Inclusion Support program barcode and:
  • Register the participant in the program(s) where support is needed
  • Email inclusionservices@clarington.net if there are any changes to your registration or request. Please note that changes may not be able to be accommodated, so it is important that you reach out as soon as possible.

Support is offered on a first-come, first serve basis and depends on staff availability. By adding yourself to this waitlist, you are submitting a support request, but support is not guaranteed.

Our staff will review your request and confirm via email if support is available, and provide you with any next steps required to complete your support request.

If our Inclusion Staff are not able to meet the participant's needs, families may provide their own External Support Worker.

If you are looking to attend a program with an External Support Worker, please email inclusionservices@clarington.net and complete the External Support Worker Release Form.
