The LSS Instructor Trainer course is the first step in the three-step process to become appointed as a Trainer for the Lifesaving Society.
The course provides candidates with an understanding of the expectations and requirements to teach instructors and prepares participants to apprentice successfully as a Trainer on the Instructor course(s) of their choice.
It shapes positive attitudes and values about the Lifesaving Society’s Instructor Training program, planning, learning/teaching, and evaluation content and allows participants to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, teaching, and evaluation techniques.
Prerequisites include one of the following designations: Bronze Examiner Status, First Aid Examiner Status, National Lifeguard Examiner Status, experienced Swim Instructor (100 hours minimum), experienced Officials Instructor or experienced Lifesaving Sport Coach.
Following successful completion of the Trainer course, candidates must apprentice with an experienced Trainer on an instructor course in the specialty area(s) in which they are eligible to become certified as a Trainer.
Candidates will receive: LSS Trainer Manual.
Candidates should bring leadership manual(s) and award guide(s) for the stream in which they wish to become certified as an Instructor trainer (Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Award Guide, National Lifeguard Instructor Award Guide, First Aid Instructor Award Guide, Aquatic Management Instructor Award Guide, Officials Instructor Award Guide).
