Description

This is a satellite program operated by the ceramics staff at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, City of Burnaby's internationally renowned ceramic arts facility. A candelabra is a candlestick holder with multiple branches. Ceramic artist Nora Vaillant will lead participants through the creation of a unique candelabra form with historical influences that she will share from her residency in Oaxaca, Mexico. Various decorative techniques will be covered, including Kanthal wire design considerations, and sprig moulds for clay flowers, leaves, balls, bobbles, figures and animals. Please note this class is intermediate and advanced. Participants must be experienced and proficient in clay or may be asked to withdraw. Clay and wire included. Tools will be provided, but you may also bring your own. No refunds after April 7.
