Description
Slow precision describes the process and possibilities of handbuilding with clay. This new course offers intermediate and advanced techniques for working on larger and more complex ceramic forms. You will learn to create templates and simple bisque molds, and develop strategies for adding lids and handles to your work. Projects include a curved-sided box, large coiled vessels, and a kurinuki (carved) tray. Clay is not included in course fee. Students must purchase clay ticket from Front Office. Prerequisite: Ceramics 1: Introduction or Handbuilt Sculptural Techniques, or equivalent experience. Students must have some proficiency with basic handbuilding, including rolling coils and slabs.
