Description
In this advanced specialty course, ceramic artist Cheryl Stapleton will lead participants through designing and preparing pots for sawdust, loading and firing the kiln, and then unloading and polishing the final pieces. Participants will form pots by hand or on the wheel, then burnish or apply terra sigillata to the surfaces. After bisque, the pots will be loaded and fired in the sawdust kiln with organic materials to create soft variations of colour on the surfaces of the works. Over 5 sessions, participants will complete 1 sawdust firing. Tools and clay not included in course fee. Students must purchase C-3 clay ticket from Front Office prior to start of class. This course is not suitable for beginners. No refunds after March 30. The loading and firing of the sawdust kiln will happen on April 28.
