Enrollment opens August 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.This workshop equips residents with the practical knowledge to successfully establish trees in their backyards as part of a community-wide naturalization initiative. Drawing on professional arboricultural expertise, participants will learn how to assess their site, prepare the soil, plant correctly, and care for their trees through the critical establishment period — giving them the confidence to contribute meaningfully to Burnaby's urban forest canopy. We will cover trees & climate, tree selection (right tree , right place), soil & site preparation, how to plant and long-term establishment. You will learn the skills needed to naturalize your backyard and also when it is time to call an arborist.
