Description
This is a satellite program operated by the ceramics staff at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, City of Burnaby's internationally renown ceramic arts facility. Try pottery in this purpose-built clay studio! You will learn several foundational handbuilding methods, including slabs, coils and pinching, to create a functional or sculptural clay project. Ceramic artist Allysha Hurd will demonstrate simple projects and techniques for beginners. Participants will spend the first four consecutive days making clay pieces. The final session will cover glazing. The instructor will arrange a separate pick-up date for finished pieces. Clay and supplies included in course fee. Due to the design of this course, no withdrawals/refunds after July 10.
Please note that participants will have the option of continuing to work on their pieces from 3-5pm on July 20-23, and Aug 17 for glazing, for an additional open workshop fee. The Ceramic Arts Programmer will contact registrants closer to the day with more information.
