Description
The Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool Option) certification training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies, including first aid treatment. Candidates develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills. Fitness requirements include a timed object recovery, a 50 m sprint challenge, a rescue drill, and an endurance challenge of 400 m in 10 minutes.
Candidates must provide proof of identification (government ID with full legal name, birth date) and proof of the following prerequisites: 15 years of age by the last day of the course , Bronze Cross certification, and Standard First Aid certification from a WSIB-approved agency (does not need to be current), on the first day of the course.
Required Materials: Alert Lifeguard in Action manual (will be charged at the time of registration) and a whistle. Candidates should bring their Canadian Lifesaving Manual and Canadian First Aid Manual for reference throughout the course. Participants will also require a whistle.
