Description
This is a combined Swimmer 7 and Swimmer 8 class.
Swimmer 7: In this 1 hour class (with a class ratio of 10:1), swimmers continue to refine their front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke with 50-meter swims, while building endurance through 350-meter workouts and 100-meter timed swims. Lifesaving sport skills are introduced, including a 25-meter obstacle swim and a 15-meter object carry (5 lbs). First aid instruction focuses on assessing conscious victims, contacting Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and treating bleeding. Participants also develop personal responsibility and swimming efficiency through skills such as a compact jump, a one-minute eggbeater kick, and a 200–300-meter endurance swim.
Swimmer 8: This 1 hour class (with a class ratio of 10:1) builds strong swimming and lifesaving skills through 75 meter swims of each stroke, a 200 meter timed swim, and a 100 meter fitness medley. Participants develop proficiency in lifesaving sport techniques, including a lifesaving medley, timed object support, and rescue using a buoyant aid. First aid instruction focuses on assessing unconscious victims, treating shock, and managing obstructed airways. Through skill drills and simulated rescues, swimmers strengthen their foundation in water safety and non-contact rescue.
