Description

This 45-minute intermediate swim class (with a class ratio of 10:1) is designed to build confidence in deep water while refining stroke technique and boosting overall fitness. Swimmers will work through interval training sets of 4 x 25 meters using flutter kick and front or back crawl, and progress to front crawl sprints. You'll perform in-water front somersaults, and demonstrate handstands in shallow water, while also developing breaststroke arms with breathing over 10–15 meters and swimming 5 meters underwater. The class emphasizes skill development in front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, whip kick, and introduces stride entries, eggbeater kick, and surface dives. Swimmers will tread water for 30 seconds, recover objects from chest-deep water, and support themselves at the surface for up to two minutes. With a focus on personal goal setting and water confidence, participants will work toward continuous swims of 50 to 100 meters.
