In this 1 hour class (with a class ratio of 10:1), swimmers continue to refine their front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke with 50-meter swims, while building endurance through 350-meter workouts and 100-meter timed swims. Lifesaving sport skills are introduced, including a 25-meter obstacle swim and a 15-meter object carry (5 lbs). First aid instruction focuses on assessing conscious victims, contacting Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and treating bleeding. Participants also develop personal responsibility and swimming efficiency through skills such as a compact jump, a one-minute eggbeater kick, and a 200–300-meter endurance swim.
